Saturday morning coaching is extremely popular and is very well attended. Here are the main coaching structures your child can get involved with as well as coaching for older juniors. We also encourage all parents to get involved and sign up for Full Membership, Social Membership and Adult coaching sessions.

• Mini Tennis Coaching

Falls into several categories:

• Mini Tennis Red
  The first stage is for children aged 4 to 7 years of age. A low compression ball is used and the game is played on a smaller court. The main element is fun while basic skills are being developed.

• Mini Tennis Orange
  The progression on from the red, when the ball is slightly harder and the game played on a full tennis court but the court is shorter.

• Mini Tennis Green
  The ball is harder and the game is played on a full court. The children are aged 9 to 11 years of age. It is very important for the children to progress and to also enjoy the sessions. The children are then placed into further groups either by age or ability. Development groups are organised from mini-tennis red onwards. For these children a key element is competition.

Mini-tennis Accreditation

Whitchurch Tennis Club is an accredited tennis club. This was given to the club when certain criteria were met from the L.T.A (Lawn Tennis Association). The mini-tennis awards are given to the children for achieving mini-tennis red to orange and then green.

The OutReach Programme

This involves several local primary schools and a comprehensive school in the Whitchurch area. School are invited to send classes of children to the club. They are given an opportunity to play tennis. The sessions have a technical input, but the main ingredients are fun and enjoyment. Taster sessions are also organised in the Primary Schools. Although these are short the interest can be developed from there. This approach to Tennis in the Community works well, as children can begin playing at an early age.

Saturday Morning Seesions:

• Tots Tennis 9.15-10.00am (5 years old + under)
  The lesson will have basic co-ordination exercises and fun games!
  Cost: Members £36 Non-Members £60

• Mini Red 10.00-11.00am (6-7 years old)
  This is a fun introduction to tennis with co-ordination skills and lots of fun games!
  Cost: Members £48 Non-Members £78

• Mini Orange 11.00-12.00noon (8-9 years old)
  Using an orange court there will be lots of rallying and an introduction to match play.
  Cost: Members £48 Non-Members £78

• Mini Green 12.00-1.00pm (10-11 years old)
  On the whole court there will be match play and tactical skills.
  Cost: Members £48 Non-Members £78

• Teenagers 1.00-2.00pm (13-19 years old)
  There will be work on technique on ground strokes and serves as well as match play.
  Cost: Members £48 Non-Members £78
